Faith is such a loaded word. The secular world has stolen it from us and made it lesser than it should be. But for followers of Jesus, it will remain special. It is a gift. A knowing, a strength that takes us through this unkind world and keeps us safe in the loving arms of God.

‘Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.” ‘
Luke 7:50
When Jesus spoke about this woman, He was illustrating to the Pharisees, the non-believers what the power of faith can do for a woman of pitiable stature. All her sins were forgiven. There is a lot more to Luke, chapter 7. It is a series of miracles induced by faith and caution to non-believers. But, my focus is only on the word, “faith”.
It is a gift. One of the best kind bestowed upon us. We are so blessed to have faith in our Lord. The peace and joy we get by clinging onto Him through the rough waters of life is possible only through faith.
‘Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.’
Hebrews 11:1
‘For we walk by faith, not by sight.’
2 Corinthians 5:7
Faith is a relationship with God that is higher than any earthly relationship. When you have faith, you rely on Him. Know that He will never abandon you, will walk with you and carry you out of a storm. He laid down His life for you, there should be no doubt in your mind. He has reassured us of being with us again and again throughout the Bible.
‘And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” ‘
Exodus 33:14
‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” ‘
Joshua 1:9
Fear not, for I am with you;
Isaiah 41:10
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
We know our good Lord is unwavering in His word. He has promised us over and over again that He is with us. The omnipotent is with you every step of the way, let that sink in.
Take heart, have faith and enjoy the peace that He bestows upon us.
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for creating me and wanting a relationship with me. Thank You for pursuing a sinner like me. Thank You for changing my heart and bringing me closer to You. Thank You for the joy and peace You have graced me with. As a sojourner of this world, there will be ups and downs, teach me to hold fast, close my eyes and be led by faith, all to give You glory. Amen.
