Smarty pants, you are.

When biblical words are taken by this world and made lesser. Guard yourselves against diluting words that can be our lifeline.

Wisdom as we know it in this world is not what we should seek. This world has stolen words from the bible and have made them ordinary, diluting them to mean something less and ordinary to confuse believers and non-believers alike.

For instance, Hope, it is a beautiful word depicting the promise of God. As we know, God always keeps his promises but the world wants us to think that “hope” means something wishful, not assured. But guess what Christian, when you have Hope (Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 15:13) in Jesus you have the assurance that it is sealed, promised, delivered.

Likewise, wisdom has been taken by this world and made into something academic, laced with experience, being smart about the ways of this world, being able to deduce intrinsic meanings. But when Solomon refers to wisdom, I think he refers to more than intelligence. It is the ability to discern truth, knowledge of God.

Hmm, how are we with our limited intelligence to have any knowledge of God? He gave us the bible didn’t He? Read regularly to grow in the word. But even at that, we have to be careful. Satan and his minions use scripture to twist and jade the true meaning (Matthew 4:1-11). Guard yourselves by praying for discernment, ask the Holy Spirit to help understand the bible like it should be understood. Passages will open up, supplemental material will manifest itself in your life, sermons will form a pattern and theme that will help shape your wisdom.

“Great is our Lord, and of great power; His understanding is infinite” – Psalm 147:5. But He did give us the bible to know the truth, understand Him and know who he made us to be. This will shape our understanding to match His will. We will have answers to everything that needs answered. The Bible is one of the ways God talks to us, use it to grow in wisdom and grow nearer to God.

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To the cross where Thou hast died;

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To Thy precious, bleeding side. – (Draw me nearer-Hymn)

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for the gift of the Word. It is our life-jacket in this stormy world that clouds our vision and tries to drown us. Without You, we would have no hope of coming home. Keep us safe in your word until we meet in person soon. Amen!
