I hope you welcomed the New Year with Jesus by your side. I had the good fortune of going to a worship service this New Year’s Eve. I was hoping for more Bible reading but as God would have it, I got something better; moving worship music, passages from the Bible that urged me to remember God’s goodness and testimonies. Powerful testimonies.
One of the testimonies was delivered by a woman in faith. She loves our good Lord. She was in pain for many years and by the grace of God, was healed. When she got back home and got busy with life, her pain returned as her distance with God grew. She went back to praying and her pain went away. She was reminded to be in His constant care, seek refuge in Him always.
‘He shall cover you with His feathers,
-Psalm 91:4
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.’
What struck me here is that Jesus wanted her to share His testimony and she was obedient. If we hear her right, the message is to fill all our empty spaces with Jesus and also replace the junk in our hearts with Jesus, our Savior. His touch will heal. We will be healed from physical, emotional and spiritual agony.
“Shackled by a heavy burden
‘Neath a load of guilt and shame
Then the hand of Jesus touched me
And now I am no longer the sameHe touched me, oh, He touched me
-He Touched Me (Hymn)
And oh, the joy that floods my soul
Something happened, and now I know
He touched me, and made me whole”
Remember the time when Jesus healed a person and said, that his sins were forgiven?
‘Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” ‘
-Matthew 9:2
This does not mean that the paralytic was paralyzed because he was sinful. It just means that Jesus heals everything, physical and spiritual pain. When we sin, we are separated from God, we lose out. Forgiven sins through His blood bring us back to God. Why should we pull away from this amazing gift? Stay close to Him every waking minute of every day that you have been given. Experience the amazing power of Jesus moving mountains and paving way through difficult terrain for you. For you! The one he loves dearly. Love Him back, put Him on the throne of your heart.
Dear Jesus,
Place Your healing hand on me and drive away all the evil that pulls me away from You. I submit it all to You, burn out that which is occupying Your space in my heart. Amen.
