Do you catch yourself unmindful of God sometimes while you are in the midst of something? Your mind has drifted into the job at hand, and you are locked in, but you left your Savior on the sidelines watching and waiting for you to acknowledge Him?

I cannot emphasize this enough; we are in a world that is bombarding us constantly and driving us into a false state of normalcy by being absorbed in the seen. But as Christians we have to focus on the unseen and not get pulled away by this world.
‘while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.’
-2 Corinthians 4:18
When I catch myself drifting into the work at hand, I suddenly feel the emptiness and then I start scrambling to get back in the presence of God. I pull up the Bible, grab the stone with Ps 91:2 inscribed on it. Grab my pendant (most days I have a cross on) or pull up my phone and look at the Bible apps. When in distress, I pray. Today it occurred to me that I should switch the order. Pray first, but sometimes I am in the middle of a conversation at work. How can I tune the person out? I am rude enough to begin with, cannot make it a habit.
Here is what I decided. I will strategically place a few verses around on sticky-notes to help me memorize and also to throw a glance around to quickly pull me back into His presence. Will circle back on how that is working out for me.
Recall the promise:
‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
-Jeremiah 33:3
‘Seek the Lord and His strength;
-Psalm 105:4
Seek His face evermore!’
And then, there is the perfect one that David wrote while he was in the wilderness of Judah.
‘ O God, You are my God;
-Psalm 63:1
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water. ‘
Dear Jesus,
While I get crushed in my daily routine, please help me remember to turn to You and keep my eyes on You. Your living water is what I seek ardently, please quench my thirst and never let me part from Your side. Amen.
