How do you wake up? Are you a grump or cheerful? Would you like to wake up joyful instead?

“As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness;
Psalm 17:15
I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.”
That one line, “I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness” speaks volumes of David’s love for God. Ask yourself, what will satisfy you? Many of us have desires of this world. I want that cute top from Nordstrom or that noise-free jacket from Sitka. Maybe a week on the beach? Maybe a house on the Pacific Coast? I can go on about the list of things that we think will satisfy us.
But given that as Christians, we want joy, the ultimate satisfaction comes from being like Jesus. Having alignment with His will, being fulfilled by the God Almighty, who wants to fulfill us.
As children we look up to our parents and think, “someday I will be as strong as dad” or “when I grow up I will be as beautiful as mom”. This is the same feeling that David’s psalm elicits in me. I want to be like my maker. I will be satisfied in becoming like Him.
Imagine waking up one day and being content, knowing what God wants from us and walking in obedience. Loving our neighbors like Jesus did. Being joyful in the core so that situations and surroundings do not faze us. Strong in our likeness of our one true God.
Dear Jesus,
You are good to us, You lead us and mold us into the same goodness. Please let me align my will with Your will today and everyday, so that one day I can say, ” I am satisfied that I am awake in Your likeness”. Amen!
