Blessed is the One Who Trusts

The trust gauge. I am not sure this matters as much as I think it does, but I get curious about it once in a while. Am I trusting God enough? I wonder. And I wonder if God feels the way we feel when we see lack of trust in a child’s eyes, or when we see complete and uninhibited trust. Let me illustrate.

I volunteered at a children’s carnival held by my local church. Kids played games to win tickets and could redeem them for toys with their spoils. There was one little girl who earned so many tickets that she could not hold them all in her little hands. She looked around, spotted me, and decided I was the right person for safekeeping. For the rest of the afternoon she kept running back to me, bringing another ticket and another, each time with a enormous smile on her face. “See how many tickets I got!” she would announce proudly. It felt wonderful to be trusted with her loot.

I am not related to this little girl and yet her trust in me warmed my heart. Should my Creator not be thought of with far more deliberate trust? I have evidence of His unwavering faithfulness and mercies rooted in love, and yet I falter.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.”

-Jeremiah 17:7

Jesus said that faith the size of a mustard seed is sufficient to move mountains. What we truly need is to trust that He is enough. That God is faithful and that He will never forsake us. This Satan soaked world will confuse us and beat us down. The good book recommends prayer, as always, to help us when our trust in our good Lord wavers. What a blessing it is to put our uninhibited trust in God.

“Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
In God (I will praise His word),
In God I have put my trust;
I will not fear.
What can flesh do to me?”

-Psalm 56:3-4

May your burden be lightened because you placed your trust in God today. God bless you.

Dear God,

I am sorry for all the times I let doubt creep in and give room to anxiety. There is overpowering evidence of Your love for Your creation and yet I fall short every time I falter. Please teach me to be unwavering in my trust of Your faithfulness. I pray in Your precious name, Jesus. Amen.
