The attitude of gratitude

I meant to share this a few days ago but wondered if it would come across as rambling. I am sharing it anyway. On Friday, I woke up to an issue at work. There were three teams involved and the chance of resolution was slim. It would entail a war room scenario, bringing individuals together and ensuring that everything was fixed before the rest of the world woke up. I have been through this kind of situation frequently, but it has been a couple of years since the systems were this unstable.

Normally, I would swing into action, but I felt drawn to linger over my morning tea in my favorite spot, in fellowship with our Lord and Savior. So I fell to my knees and asked for time with Him. I took my dog out for a quick break and marveled at the morning dew and His wonderful creation. When I finally dragged myself to my computer to start the war room, the issue was already resolved. A non-believer would credit the resilient systems we had put in place for exactly such a moment. But I strongly believe it was an answered prayer.

“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

-Mark 11:24

That day turned into a series of realized abundance. I found myself looking at everything with gratitude, the kind I should be feeling at every given moment of the day. It was remarkable. The birds seemed to chirp louder, the grass looked greener, the air was crisp, and each breath felt cool and pure. Everything about the day, small and big, felt brighter and more alive. The attitude of gratitude!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

-Philippians 4:6-7

The cherry on the top was the song we sang the following Sunday.

“Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
    Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!”

-Hymn , Great is thy faithfulness

Dear Lord,

There are no words to express my gratitude for the joy of knowing that You are my Lord and Master, the Creator of Heaven and Earth. You take care of every need, every ask, and every want. I cannot wait to come Home and thank You face to face. Until then, this prayer will have to do. Thank You for all the bounties I have received through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.
